Ken Shamrock and The Fighters Union at Battle at the Beach 7
August 3rd, 2009On July 10th Capital Entertainment raised the bar again on how to host a Mixed Martial Arts Cage Fight with style and class. This MMA promotion company just put on it’s 12th fight in a little over a year.
“Every show we just keep thinking it can’t get any better and promoter Rob Howard shows us how exciting amateur Mixed Martial Arts can be” says ISCF Represenative Robert Geiser.
Battle at the Beach Round 7 was held at the beautiful Tantara resort at the Lake of the Ozarks . Mr. Howard spared no expenses by bringing in 4 time UFC Champion and current UFC Hall of Famer Mr. Ken Shamrock.
Mr. Shamrock gave mixed martial arts fans an opportunity to get autographs and pictures taken with the world’s most dangerous man. Fans were star struck as soon as Mr. Shamrock walked into the arena. Lines began forming instantly to get just a glimpse of one of the biggest pioneers the sport has ever seen.
Mr. Shamrock also took pictures with the sponsors of the event in the cage. The event started off with an opening prayer led by Ken. After the show Mr. Shamrock was signing autographs at the Horny Toad Complex.
The after fight party was held at Backwater Jacks. Ken ended the weekend by making an appearance at Topsiders for the memorable “Rehab Party”.
Capital Entertainment donates a percentage of their proceeds to Kids Harbor, a child advocacy center that serves as a safe haven for battered and abused children. Rob Howard was presented with a certificate of appreciation from Kids Harbor during the event. Mr. Howard was also able to donate over $700 to the charity from the proceeds from this event.
However the highlight of the weekend was definitely the nonstop, hold on to your chair, gut wrenching action in the cage. The fifteen bout fight card featured some of the premier fighters from the Jefferson City and Lake Ozark Top Teams. Fighters came from St. Roberts, Jefferson City, Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, Camdenton, Rolla, and many other cities in Missouri to compete in the fights.
The event concluded on Saturday with a submission seminar taught by the four time UFC champion. The seminar was attended by many of the fighters that were featured on the card along with a many dedicated fans interested in getting an opportunity to train with Ken Shamrock. Information covered in the seminar featured many of Ken Shamrocks signature leg locks and other advanced jiu jitsu techniques.
Capital Entertainment will be putting it’s next two fights on in Jefferson City, Missouri. The dates are set for
